Release Notes

What changed, newest first.

  1. 1.0.0

    • Added WaveNode 1.0, the first public release.
    • Added a recovery screen: if the interface ever crashes, WaveNode now shows a reload screen with a way to copy the error details, instead of a blank window.
    • Fixed a rare case where one bad value could silence the audio engine until the app was reloaded.
  2. 0.1.8

    • Changed how release tails behave when a dense sequence runs out of voices: they now shorten themselves and ring out naturally instead of being cut off on the beat, and slower playing keeps its full tails.
    • Changed the launcher to list your 6 most recent projects instead of 12.
    • Fixed dense sequences of stacked or overlapping notes overloading the audio engine until the sound cut out and the app needed a reload.
    • Fixed clicks when many ringing notes had to make room for new ones in a dense sequence.
    • Fixed keys staying lit on the keyboard and the piano roll, with nothing sounding, after fast playing ran past the voice limit.
  3. 0.1.7

    • Added a new voice engine: every voice, mono and poly, now runs in one compiled audio kernel that uses less CPU and keeps long release tails ringing under heavy playing.
    • Added a four-panel analyzer to the spectrogram window with spectrum, stereo waveform, goniometer and correlation views.
    • Added the ability to rename any preset, including factory presets, with undo support via Cmd+Z.
    • Added more than 20 new automation destinations you can draw into a lane, including Tape Machine controls, extra Overdrive parameters, Delay Swirl, per-oscillator Drive and Unison Jitter, Phaser and Flanger feedback and width, Compressor sidechain, and Global Pan.
    • Renamed Performance Mode to Eco Mode throughout the app.
    • Redesigned the factory preset bank into a curated Init plus handpicked Soft and Hard folders, with folder export, folder delete, and remembered folder state in the preset panel.
    • Changed New Sound to add a new sound instead of wiping out the current one, with the old destructive behavior moved to a separate Reset Sound command.
    • Fixed a bent automation lane resting on the top or bottom rail crashing the app as soon as you pressed Play.
    • Fixed modulation of an effect's Mix pushing it past 100 percent, which inverted the dry signal for a moment after each note.
    • Fixed a click when a new note retriggered a modulation envelope routed to an effect's Mix.
  4. 0.1.6

    • Added a keyboard icon to the header that turns musical typing on and off.
    • Changed undo (Cmd+Z) to step back through your changes across every sound tab, in the order you made them.
    • Redesigned the loading screen with an animated ASCII progress bar that fills accurately and speeds up on quick loads.
    • Made the preset panel open noticeably faster in projects with many tracks.
    • Made the speaker icons on sound tabs animate while their sound is playing.
    • Fixed recent tracks getting stuck in a loop of file permission prompts when you tried to open them.
    • Fixed Cmd+S showing a security error or an unexpected permission popup every time you saved.
    • Fixed the "save changes?" dialog appearing on close for projects with no unsaved changes.
    • Fixed the loading screen flashing up before the file picker when you opened a file.
    • Fixed sounds drifting slightly out of time when you switched sound tabs during playback.
  5. 0.1.5

    • Added a Loop Trig mode for the LFO that loops freely and resets when you start playing again after a pause.
    • Added links to these release notes from the update screen and the website.
    • Changed Update to ask whether to replace the current preset version or save a new one, so you won't overwrite a preset by accident.
    • Changed overlapping piano roll notes to bend smoothly into each other in mono mode without retriggering.
    • Fixed the previous preset's filter and resonance staying stuck for several seconds when you switched presets during playback.
    • Fixed the held-note highlight in the piano roll showing an octave higher than the actual note.
    • Fixed moving a preset sometimes leaving a duplicate behind.
  6. 0.1.4

    • Added Check for Updates… to the app menu so you can check for a new version right away.
    • Added this release notes page, with an entry for every new version.
    • Changed Update to save your changes onto the preset you're playing, instead of always creating a new one.
    • Fixed grid lines showing through the centers of the filter envelope knobs.
    • Fixed the website's demo keyboard grabbing your MIDI device and clashing with the desktop app.
  7. 0.1.3

    • Added hover tooltips explaining every labelled control, in 20 languages.
    • Expanded the Settings menu in the menu bar to include every in-app setting.
    • Improved the confirmations and feedback for preset menu actions, including Import Presets… and Restore Factory Defaults.
    • Made the Performance Mode card appear less often, explain itself better, and offer to switch the mode back off when your computer has room again.
    • Fixed unipolar LFOs still moving in both directions on oscillator morph, octave and the on-screen modulation display.
    • Fixed presets losing their sequences on reload, and recovered the sequences that had already gone missing.
    • Fixed moved or renamed presets briefly showing as missing.
    • Fixed the website's demo synth overwriting your app's saved settings.
